I recently purchased an Office Professional Plus download and it will not setup. I installed it to my laptop with no problems. My desktop makes it through key validation and into Office setup and then says "Microsoft Office Professional Plus encountered an error during setup" and that's it. No error code, no instructions, no suggestions.
I have tried numerous times to complete the process, including rebooting the computer and disabeling the virus scanner and firewall, to no avail. Initially I tried to install the 64 bit version but it said I would need to first uninstall the 32 bit versions of Office and Visio I am reluctant to do this so I went to the 32 bit version of Office and this is when the problem with setup began.

So I deleted them, in safe mode, of course. Then I deleted the registry keys, except instead of deleting the keys named There was also 8. I also cleared my temp folder, which is usually empty because I clear it often. A lot of the things on the guide were not there, though, because I don't think I ever had any office, they were just there. So I tried installing again but the same error appeared. This time, however, there was no leftover office folder in program files.
All of this was done in safe mode. And I think the ose Try installing Office in Windows clean boot mode and verify the results. Note: After completing the troubleshooting steps, reset the windows to start normally. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.

Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. First of all, "ms office professional encountered an error during setup" was the error message. There was nothing else. As far as the clean boot goes, I know a little bit about computers, however sometimes a little knowlege can be dangerous. Note: Application data folder is hidden folder so refer the link below to know on how to display hidden files and folders:.
